Wenlong He
is the founding director of the Institute of Organic Agriculture and Organic Food at Nanjing Agricultural University, where he has served on the faculty since 1985. He also holds an associate research position in the College of Resources and Environmental Sciences and chairs the Organic Committee of the Shanghai Association of Distinguished Experts.
A leading authority on organic certification in China, Professor He serves as a technical expert to the Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA) for both organic product and Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) certification. He was a principal drafter of the national standards GB/T 19630-2019 Organic Products and GB/T 20014.6-2013 Good Agricultural Practice.
Professor He maintains an extensive advisory portfolio across government, industry, and international development. He served as the German-side project expert for the Sino-German Organic Agriculture Development Project, and is a nationally registered organic inspector and a Jiangsu Province specialist in agricultural product quality and safety. His current advisory roles include chief organic agriculture consultant to the Linfen Municipal Government, technical advisor on organic agriculture to the Binhai County Government in Jiangsu, and director of the Organic Agriculture R&D Center at the Shanghai Agriculture, Industry and Commerce Group Modern Agricultural Science and Technology Park. He also advises the Chinese Organic Agriculture Production and Marketing Association in Taiwan. Through these engagements, he has cultivated a strong international network of organic agriculture associations and trading partners across Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
Over his four-decade career, Professor He has led numerous national and provincial research initiatives, authored or edited three academic monographs, published more than 40 peer-reviewed papers, secured two patents, and developed over ten comprehensive master plans for organic agriculture at the municipal and county levels.
